Marianthi Koritsaris, M.Ed. - School Principal
Marianthi Sofiakis Koritsaris began her educational journey as a student at Plato School at Assumption Church and has dedicated her life to shaping compassionate, purpose-driven learners. A progressive educator with over 20 years as a professor at DePaul University and the University of Illinois at Chicago, she has long championed innovation, academic excellence, and child-centered learning.
After serving on the Plato Academy School Board, Marianthi stepped in as principal in 1998 when the school faced closure. She co-founded Plato Academy as a nonprofit and rebuilt it from the ground up, guiding the school through significant challenges with resilience and vision. Her leadership helped establish Plato Academy as a thriving, values-driven community.
In 2012, Marianthi partnered with longtime educator Maria Bolos, whose shared vision and leadership helped strengthen the school’s foundation and ensure its long-term sustainability. Today, Maria serves as Director of Plato Academy, while Marianthi continues to guide the school with unwavering dedication.
Marianthi was honored with the 2025 Gabby Award, “Goddesses in Our Midst,” recognizing her extraordinary impact in education and her lifelong commitment to empowering students and community.
