Importance of Play

Plato Academy’s curriculum reflects how children naturally learn. Our educational program is grounded in the belief that children develop a deeper and more meaningful understanding of concepts when learning is experienced holistically. Play is a vital component of learning and development at Plato Academy, and its importance in the classroom cannot be overlooked.

Through imaginative play, children explore ideas and experiences that are meaningful to them. Research shows that play provides children with the time, space, and skills needed to investigate and make sense of the world around them. Play enhances problem-solving and critical thinking skills while also helping children learn to process emotions and interact effectively with others.

Why Imaginative Play Is Important:

  • Children’s dialogue during play is richer and more complex than their dialogue outside of play

  • What children imagine through play helps them interpret the past, understand the present, and anticipate the future.
